About this work

Description

Tuberculous meningitis In this close-up view of a coronal section of the brain, there is a pale inflammatory exudate in the leptomeninges above the optic chiasma. Note that the ventricles are dilated. This is an example of tuberculous meningitis in which the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid has been obstructed and secondary hydrocephalus has resulted. The patient was HIV-positive. See image W0043112 for another view of this specimen.
