Appraisal note

Approximately 60% of the total of this collection was appraised as ephemera and destroyed. This material was either not concerned directly with the work of the museum; was based around the work of other organizations, and thus duplicated elsewhere; or was related to purely administrative arrangements rather than substantive subjects. Examples include requests for reprints or copyright clearances for images; circulars from other organisations, societies and the Wellcome Foundation; records relating to maintenance and repairs to the buildings.

Ownership note

These records belonging to the WMMS remained in the custody of the Wellcome Foundation until the [1980s]. They were then transferred to the Wellcome Trust and stored offsite until weeding and cataloguing in 2011.
