Niall Ferguson comes from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. He had just been made redundant and is on "gardening leave". His main passion is sailing. On the plinth he will be taking different sailing equipment, wetsuit, lifejacket and other equipment to popularise what he says is often regarded as an elitist and expensive sport.
