The Rede Lecture: St. Bartholomew's Hospital in peace and war. Author's holograph MS. The date on the t.p. is altered from November 12: 1914 to May 6: 1915. The reason is explained on the penultimate leaf-the death of his son in action. Produced in London.

Biographical note

The author obtained his M.D. at Cambridge in 1876 and was elected F.R.C.P. in 1877, and was later its President. He was lecturer on anatomy at Saint Bartholomew's Hospital 1874-1883, on pathology 1887-1893, and Physician to the Hospital 1902-1911. He received a Baronetcy in 1919, a year after the publication of his 'History of Saint Bartholomew's Hospital'.
