Biographical note

This MS. has been tentatively ascribed to Maurice Froger, a Physician of Montepllier [fl. c. 1620], and bears a very strong resemblance to two works by this author described by Thorndike in his 'History of Magic and Experimental Science', Vol. VI, p. 510. These are BN 7484 and Ste. Généviève 2234. Though both are in Latin, the tables, order of subjects, and proportional amount of space given to each, are found to agree almost exactly, so that it seems not impossible that this MS. is a translation of one or other of these MSS., most probably of the second.
