Every little thing.

The French psychiatric clinic of La Borde was founded in 1953 and can accommodate up to 100 patients. Every year, about 20 staff and patients perform a play for an invited audience. The film follows weeks of planning and rehearsal during the summer of 1995, together with many scenes of routine activities at the clinic, observing staff and patients working together. The landscape and changing weather are an integral part of the film. On the day of the performance (15th. August 1995), as the actors put on costume and make-up, the distinction between staff and patients disappears. We watch scenes from the play, 'Operetta', and see the dismantling of the stage afterwards. A patient comments on life at La Borde: We're among ourselves.
