Technical Communication No. 10 of the Commonwealth Bureau of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Edinburgh. [Royal 8vo.] 21s. 2159 Records of hybrids between species ând subspecies have been collected from the litera¬ ture and listed under the various orders and families of mammals with, in many cases, short notes some of which are based on unpublished material contributed by zoologists from many parts of the world. There is much duplication since the reciprocal crosses, where such have been recorded, are listed separately, for ex¬ ample, under the genus Felis the cross between the domestic cat and the jungle cat is listed twice depending upon whether the male pcirent was the domestic cat or the jungle cat. Most of the crosses have occurred in cap¬ tivity as interspecific hybridization apparently occurs very rarely in nature. ; There is a bibliography and an index of I species.—M. С.
