"Let it be" was the title of a popular song by the Beatles released in 1970 Indistinct notes in pencil upper left appear to describe costume: "withit... shirt, red tie, navy blue socks, black shoes ... brown shirt" etc.

The name of the artist is inferred from the signature "K Joyce" on the verso. Executed by K. Joyce at Netherne Hospital in Surrey, with support from Edward Adamson. The artist's forename was given in an earlier catalogue as Kevin, but the evidence for it is unknown
