War Emergency Edition: "Owing to the restrictions of printing facilities, it has been necessary to prepare and print this publication early in 1918. Further, to assist the Paper Controller and to conserve tonnage, the therapeutic notes and certain other sections have been omitted, and the Edition with the diary portion ruled for 120 patients has been temporarily suspended."

2 copies Book form, bound in Morocco leather. Endpapers printed in light brown with cream printed unicorns. Text block machine made paper, text printed in black, paper pre lined with blue and brown printing ink. The Diary has all three edges in red. Embossed blind on spine '1919' and embossed unicorn on back. There is no book mark. On the front cover in blind embossing is 'Wellcome's Medical Diary 1919' and 'War Emergency Edition' below it.
