Biographical note

There was an Army Blood Supply Depot at Southmeads, Bristol. In 1946 the Blood Transfusion Centre took over the supply depot at Southmeads Hospital. 1967 a new building on the Southmeads site accommodated changing practices and was officially opened on 12 Dec by HRH The Duchess of Kent. Further extensions were built in 1972, 1982, and 1987
