    ANNUAL REPORT OF THE Medical Officer of Health FOR THE YEAR 1954 To the Chairman and Members of the Prestatyn Urban District Council. I beg to submit my report for the year 1954 for your consideration It appears in the form laid down in Circular 42/51 Wales. The district experienced good health during the year, and infectious diseases were again low, the number notified being 31. This was due to 1954 not being a measles year. We were once again visited by the Mass Radio- graphy Unit of the Welsh Regional Board. 980 people availed themselves of the facilities offered as compared with 784 in 1951. I would point out in passing that a clean bill of health on this occasion does not necessarily guarantee future immunity to chest trouble, and I would advise all interested in their health to take advantage of mass radiography services when they are available. Diphtheria immunisation remained at a satisfactory level, 113 children receiving their primary immunisation during the year and 74 other children receiving boosting doses. The benefits of immunisation can be realised when- one learns that there has not been a case of diphtheria in Prestatyn since 1946 There was no food poisoning of any importance in the town during the year. In fact, only two cases were notified. This happy state of affairs is. I feel sure, due to the care of the food handlers, who are now aware of the dangers produced by the unliygenic handler of food. I
