    in the circulatory stream, their constant contact with the vascular endothélium, and their action upon the nerve enclings of that particular reflex periphery, in such a manner as we hâve above clescribed, they not only bring into action, but maintain in fmiction the great reflex of general tonicity, increasing the power of that function with each transfusion, up to the point where arterial tension lias arrived at the normal level and stable conditions which are consistent with health.
