He stands, holding a cross, on the bank of a stream in a rocky wooded landscape

Contains at foot the arms of the Earl of Chesterfield, with motto 'A Deo et rege', and separate etched authorship statements applying to the arms (very small and partially indistinct): "J. Quin [?] del ; J. Hall sculp."
