Description

This is a documentary about two of Queen Elizabeth II's cousins, Katherine and Larissa, who were classified as 'imbeciles' and placed in a an institution in the 1940s. Former staff of the Royal Earlswood provide testimony of this time together with their memories of the cousins, one of which is the same age as the Queen. A woman with learning difficulties who was institutionalised at Earlswood remembers one of the cousins and also comments on her experiences there. Later in the programme there is archive footage of an opinion forming documentary made by Anglia Television which exposed conditions in mental institutions.
