Gentlemen,—I wish in the first place to express to you my high sense of the honour you have done me in again, after so short an interval, electing me your President, and to assure you that I shall spare no effort to make my year of presidency a success- ful one, and that I have no doubt I shall do so, assured as I am of your cordial support; although I cannot hope that anything so important to the Society will take place in the ensuing session as the union of the various Societies of Medical Officers of Health into one great Society, which has been accomplished during the period of office of our late President.
