Black and white photograph of Robert Mapplethorpe, an American photographer known for celebrity portraits, nudes and images of the New York BDSM subculture in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The image shows Mapplethorpe lying naked in a bathtub full of water. Information on the front and reverse suggests the original photograph was taken in 1979 in New York and later exhibited at the Photogalerie The Compagnie in Hamburg.
