Description
Commonplace book containing notes and extracts on medical and other subjects: also including brief diaries of his travels as an Army Surgeon in various Campaigns of the Napoleonic Wars. Author's holograph MS. The travels include a journey to France and Italy, 1802-1804; a voyage from Gibraltar to the Island of St. Kitts, 1807, 1808 the Martinique Expedition, 1809, and the Peninsular War in Spain and France, 1813, 1814.

161 ll. obl. 8vo. 911/2 x 151/2 cm. Original calf binding worn, in a note-book with metal clasp. Some leaves have been cut out in the middle and at the end.

Biographical note
The author became Deputy Inspector of Hospitals on the Staff of Lt. Gen. Lord Keane (i.e. John, first Baron Keane (1781-1844)) in 1810. He obtained his M.D. at Paris in 1816 and was elected F.R.C.P. in 1843.
