Segment 1 The narrator, television personality Leslie Crowther, introduces the town of Ruislip, Middlesex. He explains that in 1972, residents of Ruislip organised a holiday to the town for 20 children with cerebral palsy. The children's bus arrives and the children go to the church hall, which has been set up as their dormitory. Local residents donated beds, and shops and businesses helped with food and essential items. The children are taken on a daytrip to London, and they see Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Segment 2 At Buckingham Palace, the children are allowed through the gate and watch the changing of the guard from inside the palace grounds. They eat lunch in a park. Segment 3 In the evening, the children are seen playing games in the church hall. They are shown playing in a playground and being entertained at a party by a magician and a Punch and Judy show.
