In the novel by Huish, the castle of Niolo at the eastern end of Lake Geneva is the seat of the Lindamore family, Count Frederic Lindamore and his two sons, the virtuous Frederic and the vicious Leopold. The governess wishes to find out what a character called Rosenheim wishes to discuss with Rupert, another character who is designated as the Seneschal.
