About this work

Description

Following the publication of The Warnock Report in 1984 (see SA/NAC/B/7/5) concerning the developments in fertility treatments, Enoch Powell (1912-2008) Ulster Unionist MP for South Down, introduced The Unborn Child (Protection) Bill in 1985. This Bill was against the experimentation on embryos and would have introduced the idea of embryos rights. This would no doubt have threatened abortion services, fertility treatments and research, however it did not pass and NAC ran a campaign against it.

The documents in this campaign covers: petitions against the Bill, correspondence and publications by NAC and other groups.
