About this work

Description

Large number of mosaic drawings with name of child or adult creator and the date. Some also include the person's profession and some contain some information on their psychological state or condition. They are generally grouped in batches or common denominators, e.g. 'tray filled', 'spaced', 'pendant', 'winged', 'cruciform', 'asymmetrical', 'colour important', 'representational fantasies', 'linear'. The creators include medical patients and people from all walks of life. The majority are from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. There is one group of drawings by different children dated 1971 which accompany an essay entitled 'The difficult child's school environment' by Christine Ayling.
