About this work

Description

Central scene set in the hospital, left to right, a man covering a horse's head with a bonnet; a man taking the pulse at a horse's leg; a man examining a horse's mouth; and a man giving a horse a hot drink. Around the central scene, doodles of grotesque half-human half-equine heads, two horses reading a newspaper or a large Bible on a lectern, and other fantasy scenes involving horses: only one of these was included in the etched version
