On the title-page of the work on chronology, the author is stated to be 'Math. Doct.', and he may very probably be the William Johnston, M.D. who was appointed Professor of Mathematics at Marischal College and University, Aberdeen in 1626, a post which he held until his death in 1640.

No record has been traced of the publication of this work. [Cf. P. J. Anderson: Fasti Academiae Mariscallanae Aberdonensis. Vol. I, pp. 143-148: Vol. II, p. 53].@$@In the same compiler's 'Officers and Graduates of University and King's College, Aberdeen', 1893, there is a record of a William Anderson of Morayshire who took his M.A. Degree in 1680 (p. 211), and of another of Banff who took it in 1682 (p. 212).
