Notes

Joyce Underwood comes from Sunderland. She is retired early as a teacher and is now a carer for her daughter (who has ME) and her mother (who has Alzheimer's and lives alone). She is passionate about the need for people's perception of ME to change, that it is not just a matter of people being tired. She wants to get across how it affects sufferers. On the plinth she will be raising awareness of ME and will be sending out different statements reflecting different facets of the condition.
