Lettering

Lettering in Chinese Lettering handwritten on label affixed to verso: Ying-shoo - the letter of meeting. This is sent by the bridegroom's father with the marriage chair that is to bring the bride to his house - and her father's letter of meeting in reply is sent with the procession in which she goes to the bridegroom's house. On the outside of the letter contained in the envelope are written the words, - "Meeting commmunication" - The contents of the letter are some poetical rhapsodies which it is impossible to translate or even to understand. The lady's letter is sometimes on green paper
