Biographical note

The ICM is an organisation of national associations of midwives; individual midwives are not eligible to join. National organisations eligible to join the ICM must be recognised by their Government as midwives competent to practice midwifery.

The annual dues from each National organisation are paid on a per capita basis, according to the membership of the association.

The Membership records include histories of some associations; details of midwifery regulations in respective member countries, as well as their professional and legal status, renumeration and training requirements.
