About this work

Description

Surveys the chaotic state of world food supplies, with one-third of the world living in actual or comparative luxury, destroying surplus produce, while two-thirds of the population go hungry. Analyses the effects of the Second World War on food markets around the world; shows how peacetime, too, has its hazards - pests, fires, speculators - which play havoc with the food supply. Could poverty act as the catalyst for a third world war? There has never been a world of plenty - only a state of prosperity in individual countries. It has to be faced that plenty means world peace - but there is a price to be paid. A succession of arresting film clips contrasting the states of plenty and poverty throughout the world are accompanied by a terse question-and-answer commentary
