Items acquired from various sources: purchased from Sotheby's, London, February 1931 (acc.56320) and April 1932 (acc.65133), from Stevens, London, March 1931 (acc.68130) and February 1932 (acc.68380), from H.K. Lewis, December 1932 (acc.67552), from Mrs. Watson, Burnley, March 1945 (acc.72200) (presumably once part of the Thomas Madden Stone autograph collection), and from Mr. Derek Barlow, November 1996 (acc.350410); presented by James Herbert Stowers M.D., November 1926 (acc.45266); transferred from Wellcome Historical Medical Museum, December 1939 (acc.91800). Provenance details of one letter are not recorded (acc.67430); nor are those of the newspaper cutting.
