About this work

Description

Document produced by Jean Tirard, notary public, recording the apprenticeship of Beat Louis Michel Regis for a term of three years to Daniel Rolet, in order to learn to be a surgeon. Other parties to the agreement are Antoine Troncelin, Counsellor of State, and the apprentice's father Jacques.

The document sets out in detail the duties of both the apprentice and his master.

In addition to the original document there is a partial, and possibly unreliable, twentieth century English translation.
