Biographical note
In October 1996 Petrone gave a presentation of his paintings with accompanying commentary at the Cancerbackup 10th anniversary conference. The artworks explored his emotional response to the diagnosis and treatment of Hodgkin's disease. As a result of the presentation he was invited to exhibit his artworks at several Sussex venues in 1997 under the exhibition title "The Emotional Cancer Journey". The exhibition guide was published as a book in 2002.
