The file concerns allegations by a member of staff (Angela Walder) of cruelty at the Cancer Research Campaign's Middlesex laboratory at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, where tumour implantations in mice were conducted.
The file includes the 'Confidential Report' prepared following the visit to Gray Laboratory, Mount Vernon Hospital, on Wednesday 4 August, 1976, by Dr W and Mrs E M Lane-Petter (RDS) at the invitation of the Cancer Research Campaign (photocopy). "We considered allegations of cruelty and callousness to be without foundation or grossly exaggerated..." (Report, p. 12).
