About this work

Description

Various letters, memoranda, and papers, prompted by the continuing sale of "Solvads": "Our clients, Messrs Burroughs Wellcome & Co, observe in your price list (published as an inset to 'The Chemist and Druggist' 30th January 1909) that you are continuing to use the title 'Solvads'. They also note that the term 'trade-mark' is prominently associated therewith. In view of the Registrar's refusal to register the word 'Solvads' [in 1905] they are surprised that you persist in employing it." (Extract from draft letter to The Standard Tablet and Pill Company, 5 February, 1909).

File is primarily concerned with obtaining the co-operation of chemists to obtain proof of continuing trade in "Solvads" and include lists of "Friendly chemists who may be approached when we require evidence" (1908), and who are willing to make "test purchases" (see, for example, correspondence with Mr F Curry, June and July 1908), and "Chemists who have been reported as confining their purchases more or less exclusively to products of BW&Co" (1909).
