Temple dedicated to Imhotep at Philae

Facade of the temple dedicated to Imhotep within the temple complex at Philae, south of the Aswan dam. The site was first developed during the Late Period (713-332 BCE) but much of the building is Ptolemaic and early Roman (332 BCE - CE 395). In fact the island of Philae was submerged by the building of the Aswan High Dam in 1964 so the temples were dismantled and re-erected on the nearby island of Agilkia. Photograph taken in 1989.
