About this work

Description

Inserted also are: P. 227 Engraved portrait of Johannes Gerson [1363-1429], by B. Picart, 1712. P. 228 Engraved portrait of Hugo Grotius [1583-1645], by E. Desrochers [18th cent.]. P. 231 Lithograph copy of a medallion portrait, dated 1535, of Cardinal François de Tournon [1489-1562]. P. 243 Woodcut portrait of Belon after the Woeriot portrait, taken from the 1555 Paris edition of Belon's 'Observations de plusieurs singularités [etc.]', with the laudatory verses in Greek. P. 11-80 This section is written by a different hand: the anonymous 'Éloge' is on blue 4to. paper, and by an 18th cent. hand, with numerous interpolated holograph additions by Baudot. Among the notes by Baudot to the first 'Éloge', No. 7 (pp. 113-120) is a list of 'Médecins, chirurgiens, barbiers et apothicaires de Dijon' in the 15th century: and No. 18 (pp. 173-196) a biography of Jean Liebault [ -1596]. The general title and the Table of contents, both written in purple ink, are probably written by Henri Baudot de Charnay, whose monogram-bookplate is pasted inside the upper cover. Produced in Dijon.
