Biographical note
The first Rules and Regulations were issued in 1839 and then at various intervals as decided by the Board of Direction. Only two sets appear as loose items within the collection, with the others being located in bound volumes of legislation, Annual Reports and C. R. I. Scrapbook. The other Rules and Regulations include, Regulations of the Crichton Institution, 1839; Regulations for Attendants at Crichton Institution, 1854; Rules and Regulations in Dr J. Gilchrist's notebook, 1858-1879; Rules and Regulations of Crichton Royal Institution, 1873; Rules and Regulations of Southern Counties Asylum, 1873; List of Rules and Regulations of the Crichton Royal Institution for Attendants and Night Attendants, 1873; and General Rules of the Crichton Institution - Rules for Board Members and Staff, 1880; Instructions on Keeping case books at Crichton Royal 1 April, 1897.
