Description

Stories from an African hospital includes: cataracts; malaria; nephrotic syndrome; typhoid psychosis (suspected); operation for removal of cataracts. Crowded episodes of daily life from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, Ghana, showing a wide range of clinical conditions and surgical procedures including cataracts, malnutrition, rickets and septicaemia, with a detailed view of a caesarian section and a particularly tense and difficult operation to correct lockjaw. The hospital's financial limitations make severe demands on the patients and their friends and families which are resourcefully and cheerfully met. This is a record of medical life at its most challenging.
