The Writer of the following Letter, was a Person of a good Understanding, of great Sobriety and Uprightness, and sustained a very fair Character to his Death, which was in the Year 1764, in an advanced Age. - He bore in his Body the Marks of the terrible assault herein related; the particulars of which he often repeated, and the following Letter was found among his Papers, and is published by his Son to perpetuate the Remembrance of this signal Providence.
