About this work
Description
The Jenner Educational Trust, formerly known as the Jenner Trust, was established in 1968, to commemorate the work of Dr Edward Jenner (1749-1823) in the vaccination for smallpox. When the former home of Dr Jenner, the Chantry in Berkeley, Gloucestershire, came up for sale in the 1980s, the Jenner Trust and the BSI appealed for money to purchase and restore it. This appeal was successful. The ground floor of the house was converted into the Jenner Museum which is run by the Jenner Appeal Trustees. The BSI is represented on the Jenner Museum Management Committee. These files were compiled by Prof Richard C Nairn, BSI honorary archivist (1990-1995) who was a member of the Jenner Educational Trust.
