Description

The victims tortured and executed are presumably Jesuits suffering after the expulsion of their order from Portugal in 1759

One victim is tied to a post while the other is broken on a cross surrounded by wooden constructions bearing the corpses of tortured victims covered with a sheet of hide and surrounded by priestss carrying crucifixes
