About this work

Description

21 January, 1904. Joseph Collett Smith granted authority in the United States of America (refers specifically to trade mark disputes). Signed and sealed by Henry Wellcome.

4 February, 1904. Letter to Aubrey T Hill (Phoenix Mills, Dartford) concerning authority to sign cheques. Hill's reply (6 February) attached, suggests that, instead of increasing his authority limit, "would it not be better to avoid the passing of money or cheques between London and Dartford altogether by your handing the pay in cheques to a City branch of the London & County Bank to the credit of the Firm's account at Dartford. The Works wages cheques would then be signed at Dartford and drawn on the local bank." Subsequent correspondence, also attached, shows that Hill's suggestion was taken up, until Hill's authority was rescinded in favour of Dr H A D Jowett (13 October, 1906).

29 February, 1904. Copy Declaration by Robert Sudlow, relative to duty levied by Custom House at Milan on "Tabloid" Cascara Sagrada.

10 May, 1904. Adeline Kate Dean, of Snow Hill Buildings, to sign cheques and other documents as specified. Signed by Henry Wellcome.

21 July, 1904. Maxwell Hicks, authority in Italy to "thoroughly enquire into the business methods and all details of the books and accounts of Giongo Dalmazzo and Company of Via Torino 61 Milan". Signed by Henry Wellcome.

15 August, 1904. Joseph Collett Smith, authority to manage affairs in Portugal. Signed by Henry Wellcome.

25 August, 1904. Alexander Burnett Hector, authority to manage affairs in "the British Colonies in South Africa". Signed and sealed by Henry Wellcome.

26 August, 1904. Alexander Burnett Hector to Joseph Edward Bowes, authority in respect of Australasia. Signed and sealed by Hector.

31 August, 1904. Alexander Burnett Hector, authority "to prosecute ... any person firm or company committing ... criminal breaches of fidelity or trust" against the interests of Burroughs Wellcome & Co. Signed and sealed by Henry Wellcome.

6 October, 1904. Robert Clay Sudlow to Joseph Collett Smith, authority to manage affairs in Italy. Signed and sealed by Sudlow.
