Dummy copy of the first number of the 'Journal of Tropical Medicine [and Hygiene]': with specimen lay-outs for advertisements. Author's holograph MSS. London The foundation of this Journal was the work of Cantlie. 'He now made up his mind to publish a monthly medical Journal dealing solely with the diseases of the Tropics' ('Biography' pp. 131 et seq). It first appeared on August 15th, 1898. On the lower cover of this dummy copy is written 'Burroughs & Wellcome. 12 insertions [of advertisements]. Back page.'
