About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing of the skin of a man subject of Hebra's sarcoma melanoides, showing a detailed study of the eruption as it occurred on the outer side of the patient's right thigh. The slightly pedunculated little tumours are well shown and the diffuse discolouration at their bases. The colour is less purple and more florid than it really was. This portrait was taken eighteen months ago. At the present date (Dec 1904) most of the little currant-like nodules have flattened down and some have disappeared. Many flattened and almost black papules remain.
