Notes

Consists the first 48 quarterly reports of the Committee of Visiting Justices (James Clitherow, chairman), from 17th January 1928 to 17th January 1839. An extract from the first - separately published - annual report of the resident physician (W.C. Ellis) appeared in the 19th report (Epiphany 1832), dated December 1831. Financial statements, lists of Committee members and statistical tables are included periodically
The asylum is referred to variously (often in the same report) as the "County Lunatic Asylum, at Hanwell", the "Middlesex Pauper Lunatic Asylum", "Middlesex Lunatic Asylum", "Middlesex County Lunatic Asylum", the "County Pauper Lunatic Asylum" and "Hanwell Lunatic Asylum".
