Description
The second of two programmes in which Rajesh Mirchandani examines the ancient roots of medicine. In this part he looks at the history of Ayurvedic medicine, a system designed to maintaina person's internal and external equilibrium. Ancient Ayurvedic surgeons like Sushruta and Charaka wrote and taught in Varanasi and were able to restore noses and remove cataracts. Modern Ayurvedic practitioners continue to rely on medical principles over two thousand years old.
