Description
Letters from Jean Baptiste Biot to various correspondents and some papers by him, mainly relating to publications, experiments and mathematical calculations. With a few letters by his wife Françoise Gabrielle Biot and one letter to Biot. The letters and papers illuminate a range of Biot's professional and personal interests, from mathematics, astronomy and the refraction of light to the education of his son. Correspondents include Dominique François Arago (1786-1853). Francis Beaufort (1774-1857) and Joseph François Michaud (1767-1839). One letter by Madame Biot is to André Marie Ampère (1775-1836).
