Most of the documents were purchased from Parisian dealers, either Charavay or Degrange, between December 1927 and July 1935 (accs 55099, 55165, 5707063453, 63700, 64689, 64716, 65658, 67372, 69115 and 69124). One document was acquired with the Debacq collection in 1919. Other pieces were purchased at auction in London: at Hodgson's in November 1905 (acc.92289); Stevens', November 1930 and March and August 1931 (accs 73104, 68126 and 68231 respectively); and Sotheby's, February 1932 and November 1933 (accs 76088 and 67472 respectively). Provenance details are unrecorded for fourteen documents.
