Description

Thomas Walker (1749-1817) was a cotton merchant and political reformer at Manchester. In 1794 he was tried (on perjured evidence) for conspiring to overthrow the king, the constitution, and the government, and was acquitted. Portraed half-length to left facing front, in a simulated trompe l'oeil frame
