Copy 1 Note: Ryan's date of death (11 Dec. 1840) is wrongly given as 1841 by DNB. Obituaries in Med. Times, 19 Dec. 1840, and Gent. Mag., Jan. 1841, give his age at death as 41, but 47, as given in Prov. med. surg. J., 19 Dec. 1840, seems more likely to be correct, as he qualified M.R.C.S. on 2 April 1819, for which the minumum, age was 22.
