Biographical note

Project Summary:Young people can be bold advocates of blood and organ donation. Their receptive life-view may well challenge some older people, their parents even, who may have fixed and possibly even negative views about organ and blood donation even though both are miracles of modern medicine and play a crucial role in saving or enhancing lives every day. Our project partners are NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), providing information about blood, organ and tissue donation and transplantation, Transplant Sport UK and Donor Family Network charities. Our investigation is a journey made through the arts- new music, choreography, poetry and visual arts, where meanings are naturally abstract and the audiences' task is to make the connections and interpretations for themselves. The outcome will be live dance I multi-arts performances presented in day workshops to primary and secondary participants-and-in-further performances to adult audiences, anticipated-to-exceed 1 ,200. The performances by Year 10 students, will lead to debate of the social, ethical, moral and religious considerations surrounding the subject, and the personal choices that are made in the face of life and death.
