Description

This series examines society's treatment of physically disabled children and adults during the first half of this century. Witnesses recall their experiences of childhood disability and their accounts are illustrated by archive film. "Part 1: A Child Apart"Looks at the physical disabilities of rickets, poliomyelitis, cerebral palsy and impaired vision and hearing in working class children which received little in the way of medical management or social intolerance, even among their peer groups.
